Leon Williamson(NZ) Caps Off Fantastic Year, Award
Congratulations to Number 1 New Zealand Referee Leon Wlliamson who recently won the Referee/Umpire of the Year in the Sporting Excellence Awards held recently in Auckland. Leon beat a top field to showcase refereeing in NZ and put his sport on the map. He has had a fantastic year with selection in the recent World Cup, where over 3 years he had been strving and working towards that goal.

Polynesian Referees Visit for World Cup 2008
5 visiting referees from all over the Pacific region joined their World Cup counterparts during the recent World Cup held in Sydney.

Jack O Sullivan wins inaugural Eric Cox Medal
Congratulations to Wests referees stalwart Mr. Jack O Sulliva on winning the first "Eric Cox Medal " for services to the NSWRL Referees Association, criteria included being a life member with over 20 years of service. Jack was a former first grade official, member of Canterbury and went to Wests Refs to set up things for the League. Well done Jacko.

October School Holiday Course Best Yet
The Level 1 Preliminary Course last Thursday 11th October held at Homebush was a real success. With 13 participatns some of the districts will benefit with new members next season.

NRL Sponsor New Ref Awards for Most Improved 07

Women Referees On the Rise
With 14 referees associations affiliated with the NSWRL Referees Association, female referees are growing in number. Covering Sydney Metro, Canberra, Central Coast, Newcastle and the Illawarra there are 40 referees plying their trade every weekend.
